From research to results our data-backed trials focus on practical shelf life tips and nutritional improvements for both egg producers and consumers. We work with scientific institutions to quickly translate findings into scalable outcomes.
With roots in hydroponics and sustainable agriculture, the focus was always on reducing waste. During the development of natural shelf-life solutions, an unexpected breakthrough emerged, the formula proved uniquely effective on eggs. This discovery led to the creation of EGGcellent, a world-first in egg shelf-life extension technology.
Founder: Vishal Narayanaswamy
About the Founder
Vishal Narayanaswamy is an aeronautical engineer turned agritech entrepreneur with a proven track record of building high-trust, science-led, patented food systems. He began his journey in sustainable agriculture by establishing one of India’s early commercial hydroponic farms, which later evolved into Gourmet Garden, a clean-produce D2C brand he founded.
The company grew to a post-money valuation of ₹132 million in 3 years, backed by leading institutional and international investors, and pioneered naturoponic cultivation and contamination-free distribution. Working closely with highly perishable produce made one challenge clear: shelf life determines profitability.
This insight led Vishal to develop Eggcellent, a natural biotech coating that extends egg shelf life in harsh tropical conditions at a cost of less than INR 1.8 paise per egg. He now leads Eggcellent with a clear mission to reduce wastage, improve margins for farmers and traders, and bring practical, sciencebacked preservation technology to the poultry value chain.
